Parent's AssociationTHE WILSON SCHOOL PARENTS' ASSOCIATIONThe Wilson School Parents’ Association (PA) consists of all parents and guardians of enrolled students. The PA promotes the interests of the school, provides a forum where parents can become better acquainted, and encourages its members to become involved in the school and its activities. It is led by an executive committee (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer); standing committee chairs; and the Parents’ Representative Committee, which consists of one representative and alternate from each class. The PA meets as a whole twice yearly. This year’s meetings are Wednesday, September 22 and Wednesday, April 20. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend! Community Events: Cosmic Bowling: Friday, October 1 at Tropicana Lanes School Picnic: Saturday, May 14 at Tilles Park The Wilson School Speaker Series: Dr. Leonard Sax, Thursday, April 28 Fundraisers: Innisbrook Wrapping Paper: The sale of high-quality wrapping paper and other gift products is the PA’s main fundraiser and takes place in the fall. The proceeds from the 5th and 6th grade class sales support their spring class trips. All other proceeds help fund the PA’s community events and activities. Birthday Book Club: Parents may purchase books in their child’s name for classroom libraries. These books are presented in monthly Birthday Book Club assemblies (summer birthdays are celebrated as half birthdays). Borders Book Fair: Sunday, November 28 to Saturday, December 4 at Borders in Brentwood. A percentage of all Wilson sales goes to the PA. Used Book Sale: Monday, April 18 to Friday, April 22 in the gym. Proceeds benefit the library and technology lab. Drop dates for donations are Sept. 22, Dec. 1, Jan. 12 and April 6.
